The ends are joined and sealed by a combination of a sliding nut and a slip joint washer. The slip joint washer has a tapered end and a flat end. During installation, the sliding nut compresses the sliding joint gasket and seals the connection to prevent water leakage.

How to install?

— Prepare the pipe to be joined by cutting the pipe to a certain length, remove the burrs from the end of the cut pipe and clean the debris at the end of the pipe with a clean dry rag.

— Slide the two slip joint nuts to the original end of the PVC tube with the threads of the first sliding joint nut facing the flange end of the tube and the thread of the other sliding joint nut facing the original end of the tube.

— Push the slip joint nut down onto the pipe and slide the slip joint washer to the original end of the pipe so that the tapered end of the washer faces the slip joint nut. Slide the washer down 1-1 / 2" away from the end of the threaded end that slides into the fitting.

— Insert the original end of the pipe into the threaded end of the fitting.

— First tighten the sliding joint nut at the flange end of the pipe and slide the sliding joint washer down onto the thread of the fitting. The flat side of the slip joint washer should rest against the mating threads.

— Slide the slip joint nut down onto the slip joint washer, then turn the nut clockwise to secure the nut to the fitting and compress the slip joint washer.

— Repeat this process for each slip joint connection.

— Turn on the water and check each slip joint for leaks. If the connection leaks, first make sure the sliding joint nut is tight. If the slip joint nut is tight and water still leaks, remove the slip joint nut to ensure that the slip joint washer is not installed and the tapered end faces the joint thread.
