No matter what kind of connector is used, it will take some time. After all, when everything is used for a long time, there will be problems of old damage, as well as PVC pipe sliding joints. But when you have a PVC pipe leak at home or in the office, sometimes there is a problem with no time, you have to learn to repair the leaked PVC pipe joints yourself. If you learn to fix it yourself, you can save yourself a lot of time and save a lot of money for plumbers. Next we will talk about how to repair PVC pipe couplings.

Repair steps:

Step 1: Find the leak source

Step 2: Turn off the water

Step 3: Remove the damaged part

Step 4: Dry and install new pipes

Step 5: Apply PVC primer

Step: 6: Apply PVC cement

Step 1: Find the leak source

Where there is no water is the place to leak. Before the water falls, it will move away from the actual leak source along the PVC pipe and will appear like dripping water. First wipe the area near the suspected leak with a clean, dry cloth. Then, check the source of the leak again. However, PVC pipes, whether they are pipes or joints, are not easily removed, so they need to be cut and replaced.

Step 2: Turn off the water

The leak has been found, whether it is a pipe or a pipe joint, you have to learn how to close the water supply system of the damaged pipe. Only about the water supply that leaks the water pipe, otherwise it may cause the home to be flooded.

Step 3: Remove the damaged part

If the area you are experiencing is obvious, you need to cut at least one inch on either side of the leak. This will ensure that all damaged areas are removed. Otherwise, everything is less, and you need to go through the process of replacing the pipeline again, which is very troublesome. You also need to choose a good PVC cutter when cutting to avoid bigger problems.

By consuming more than what you really need, it helps to reduce the likelihood that such a leak will reappear. Place the PVC cutter in the desired position, hold the cutting pliers at 90 degrees, and then cut through the pipe at least one inch on each side of the leak. Once the damaged pipe section is removed, all water on both sides is allowed to drain properly. Dry the two locations with a clean cloth.

Step 4: Dry and install new pipes

It took a minute to loosely assemble the new PVC replacement tube in place before we were eager to replace the damaged pipe. Install the fittings dry in place on how to repair leaking PVC fittings. This step gives you the opportunity to make any adjustments before starting and bonding begins. Once the replacement PVC pipe joint is fully seated, disassemble the pipe to prepare for the primer and glue.

Step 5: Apply PVC primer

Open the PVC primer container. Using a smear brush, start applying solvent to the outside of the replacement tube and to the inside of the old fitting. This solvent foams the PVC and allows the cement to adhere better. The primer will remove the shiny surface of the PVC tube. It will produce a matte-like surface that will allow the cement to work properly and begin to form the chemical processes required for safe bonding.

Step: 6: Apply PVC cement

Now that the pipeline has been poured, it is time to apply PVC cement. Repeat the same process as the PVC primer. Use a spreader brush on the PVC cement cover to apply a large amount to the inside of the joint and to the outside of the edge of the replacement tube.

Insert one end of the replacement PVC tube into the fitting by twisting and pushing. This not only causes the pipe to enter the joint, but also spreads the cement to every inch of the joint. This allows the pipe to be lubricated so it slides into the neck of the fitting. Once the joints are together, hold them firmly for 15 seconds to ensure that they do not slip out.
